چکیده

background: left ventricular dysfunction is one of the most powerful predictors of early and late outcomes in patients who undergo coronary artery bypass grafting (cabg). the aim of this study was to assess the early results of cabg that predict 30-day mortality and prolonged length of hospital stay (los) after cabg in patients with an ejection fraction (ef) of 30% or less. methods: seven hundred seven patients who underwent cabg with ef≤30% in tehran heart center between january 2002 and january 2006 were entered and compared with 9467 patients with ef>30% as the control group. demographic and clinical characteristics and postoperative complications were considered. results: the thirty-day mortality rate (2.3% vs. 0.8%, p<0.0001), the mean of los (p<0.0001), and the mean of the length of icu stay (p<0.0001) were higher in the severe left ventricular dysfunction group than in the control group. in patients with severe left ventricular dysfunction, the mean of nyha score (p=0.0081), prolonged ventilation (p=0.0051), and renal failure (p=0.0606) were related to the 30-day mortality rate. also, the prolonged los in these patients was correlated with the female gender (p=0.0018) and atrial fibrillation (p=0.0164). conclusion: although left ventricular dysfunction is itself an important strong risk factor in patients undergoing cabg, the early outcome of cabg in patients with left ventricular dysfunction is acceptable and the management of this factor will help to reduce the mortality and total length of stay in hospital.

Coronary artery bypass grafting in patients with left ventricular dysfunction.

BACKGROUND Coronary artery bypass grafting surgery (CABG) remains a challenge for patients with coronary artery disease and left ventricular (LV) dysfunction. The aim of this study was to evaluate the result of CABG in patients with LV dysfunction. METHODS Medical records of 1,847 patients who underwent primary, isolated CABG at Taipei Veterans General Hospital from January 1, 1991 to Decembe...

coronary artery bypass grafting in patients with advanced left ventricular dysfunction: excellent early outcome with improved ejection fraction

background: the prevalence of patients with severe left ventricular dysfunction (lvd) referred for coronary artery bypass grafting (cabg) is increasing. preoperative lvd is an established risk factor for early and late mortality after revascularization. the aim of the present study was to assess the early outcome of patients with severe lvd undergoing cabg. methods: between december 2012 and no...

Coronary artery bypass in patients with severe left ventricular dysfunction.

We retrospectively reviewed the case records of 82 patients with severe left ventricular dysfunction (ejection fraction < 30%) who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting between March 1993 and February 2000. They were aged 28 to 76 years (mean, 60 years), and 66 of them were male. Significant comorbid factors included hypertension (93%), diabetes mellitus (85%), and hypercholesterolemia (49%...

Coronary artery bypass grafting in patients with severe left ventricular dysfunction. The role of myocardial viability

Methods Between 2008 and 2012, 118 patients who underwent CABG using cardiopulmonary bypass and had a preoperative LVEF less than or equal to 35% were included. LVEF was determined by echocardiography and ventriculography during left heart catheterization. Indication for surgery was predominance of tissue viability. Functional improvement was evaluated through echocardiography and scintigraphy.

Long-term outcome of isolated coronary artery bypass surgery in patients with severe left ventricular dysfunction.

BACKGROUND Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is indicated in patients with coronary artery disease and impaired ventricular function. However, earlier studies have suggested that prognosis of patients with severe left ventricular dysfunction is extremely poor. We used the APPROACH registry to derive contemporary estimates of prognosis associated with CABG for this high-risk patient populat...

Coronary artery bypass grafting in patients with severe left ventricular dysfunction: predictive significance of left ventricular diastolic filling pattern.

AIMS The aim of our study was to evaluate the influence of left ventricular (LV) diastolic filling impairment on postoperative results in patients (pts) with low LV ejection fraction (EF) (<35%) undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). METHODS The study covered 56 patients (mean age 58.9 +/- 17.1 years). Two dimensional Doppler echocardiographic investigations were performed pre- an...
